Latina Side Table

“Latina” is a bold expression of the intersection between two distinct worlds—a union of untouched nature and classical courtly art. The design of this square-shaped table is built upon contrast. The tabletop showcases the raw, textured, and warm appearance of wooden planks, evoking the sensation of touching the trunk of a tree directly. In contrast, the legs and lower structure feature a dark, coated finish, giving them a distinctly aristocratic, elaborate, and formal appearance.

The apron beneath the tabletop has been artistically designed with an openwork, hollow pattern, reminiscent of traditional Persian lattice windows or delicate classical plasterwork. The legs, with their sturdy form and mythical claw-like feet, effectively support both the visual and physical weight of the piece. The addition of a lower shelf not only enhances functionality but also contributes significantly to the overall stability and visual balance of the design.

Handcrafted and Authentic Construction

Latina is a showcase of the diverse woodworking skills practiced in the Brisini workshops.

Openwork Carving

The decorative sections beneath the tabletop are crafted using the traditional technique of openwork wood carving. Removing the spaces between intricate patterns in solid wood without compromising the delicate structure requires millimeter-level precision and specialized hand tools. This process creates beautiful light and shadow effects when exposed to light.

Plank Joining Technique

The tabletop, designed to resemble a composition of wooden pieces placed side by side, is assembled using concealed and highly durable joints. This construction preserves the natural appearance and decorative seams of the wood while creating a unified surface that remains resistant to warping over time.

Premium Materials and Standardized Quality

In a product where the natural texture of wood plays the leading role, the quality of the material is of utmost importance.

Solid Beech Wood – Turkish Grade A-B

The entire structure of the table, from the turned legs to the thick tabletop, is made from Grade A-B Turkish beech wood.

• Textured Surface: Due to its dense grain, beech wood is highly suitable for techniques such as sandblasting and hand texturing. These methods enhance the natural grain of the beech wood, creating a three-dimensional texture that can be distinctly felt by touch.
• Strong Legs: The delicate and openwork legs of this table rely on the high strength of Georgian beech wood to safely support the weight of the thick tabletop and decorative objects without vibration or instability.

Applications in Interior Design

Latina is a versatile decorative element that can serve as a bridge between different interior styles.

• Eclectic Spaces: This table is an excellent choice for homes that combine modern furniture with classic accessories.
• Adding Warmth to the Space: In interiors featuring cool or neutral colors such as gray or white, the warm wooden tabletop of Latina brings a sense of life and warmth to the environment.
• Dual Functionality: Thanks to the lower shelf, the table provides a practical space for displaying fine books, art magazines, or decorative objects underneath, while the main tabletop can accommodate a table lamp or vase. This table is also highly suitable for luxury villas and sophisticated hotel or commercial lobbies.
